Privacy Pirates is an interactive educational quiz on online privacy for children between the ages of 5 and 8.
One of the other major goals of this project was to encourage children to seek guidance from their parents or teachers if they are unsure of anything online.
In Privacy Pirates children attempt to assemble a map leading to a pirate treasure (introducing the idea that information has value). In doing so they encounter a variety of situations in which they will be asked to give up information. Making the correct choices will be rewarded with an additional piece of the map.
This project is an initiative from a Canadian non-profit organization, MediaSmarts that has been a pioneer in the development of digital media literacy programs.
I created all pirate characters and the wise old mentor in their various environments along with the child friendly UI design. I also provided necessary animation for intro and outro.
